Leaking grease after less than year

This looked and fit with no issue. It worked from day one. The problem is 9 months after installing I suddenly had an unrelated problem (the pully grinding on plastic cover). No big deal (the nut backed out a bit). While taking things off to diagnose that, I noticed grease on the nut and a little on the pulley spline. This is exactly the problem that causes these to fail. They start leaking grease and even letting water in, then the bearings go bad. To be clear, this has not caused a problem yet (to my knowledge), but to see this after only 9 months of use is disappointing, and I question how long it will last since this has started.
