This is the only movie ever done about the Battle of Hürtgen Forest in 1944. The battle got lost in history due to the outbreak of The Battle of the Bulge towards the end of this offensive in the Hürtgen Forest. It was a series of fierce battles fought between U.S. and German forces, which became the longest battle on German ground during World War II, and the longest single battle the U.S. Army has ever fought in its history. The battles took place from 14 September 1944-10 February 1945, over barely 50 sq mi, east of the Belgian–German border. The Hürtgen Forest cost the U.S. 1st Army at least 33,000 killed and wounded, including both combat and noncombat losses; Germans casualties were 28,000 (some of this is from Wikipedia). The acting is very good and the special effects are excellant.
