Good Dimmer Works Well

Works well with my dimmable LED light bulbs; does however add a certain extra height to bulb inside lamp shade (a good 1 1/2"), so make sure your lamp is big enough. So happened that one of my lamps was too small; but I just happened to have a spare lamp shade bracket in the drawer that was about an inch longer - so all worked out perfectly!

I did my research. Buy it.

Turn any cieling socket or lamp into a dimmer! It's genius! Be careful though. It's not compatible with dimmable LED bulbs and can completely break the circuitry in some of them. You need a TRIAC based dimmer for LEDs. This is a basic resistor based dimmer designed for a maximum of 100w incandescent or halogen bulbs. By the way, if you buy the now expensive "vintage" incandescents, they last ten times longer if you don't run them at full power, so this dimmer can be a huge money saver and bulb saver, if you don't need 100% full brightness from your incandescent bulbs 100% of the time.
