Tastes funny, odd design and functional choices

The water is definitely tasting weird from this (I did flush it til it ran clear per the instructions) and I'm not sure if the filter just needs more flushing or if it's the bottle. Also not sure if the fill method of the bottle is really easier than typical filters. They market the flow rate being quick as a major selling point, but the reservoir is small so you have to put the stream really low or it overflows and you need to stop filling and wait for it to empty before continuing. It's not a seamless method and stopping and starting about 5 times as you try to get the flow low enough to be able to let it run is a lot more frustrating and less smooth of a task than just filling and then waiting for a Brita to filter so you can pour. Also not loving the mechanism for opening and closing so you can drink the water (pressing down across from the drink spout to open and then basically on it to close), and the mouthpiece has no protection. Where you put your mouth to drink is fully exposed at all times and will get dirty as you carry this around. I might give it a few more tries but as of right now the Brita water bottle has this beat for on the go filtered water, and for at home a regular Brita pitcher is better considering current taste issues and the stated issues with the filling experience.
