My father owned a restaurant in Atlanta. Our pies were famous. We made everything from scratch and the highest quality ingredients. We had customers who would visit from out of town. Many would return home with our apple and pecan pies. This to confirm that I have had experience with quality apple pies. I have found Mrs Smith's pies to taste good and have excellent value. The pastry is a little thicker than I would have made . If you use an egg wash on the crust and add a sprinkle of sugar half way through baking plus insert a pat of butter underneath the crust in the center where the vent was cut before baking it goes from “store bought” to homemade. An excellent pie at a great value.
