Walker Exhaust Ultra EPA 16689 Catalytic Converter with Integrated Exhaust Manifold Fits select: 2011-2016 SUBARU FORESTER, 2013-2014 SUBARU OUTBACK

So far so good, cleared the P0420 code on a 2012 Subaru Forester. The bolt holes do NOT line up with the cylinder heads, so you will become friends with Mr. Round File to get it to bolt up. It was on super-sale for a period of time in February 2025, so the extra manual labor was worth the savings compared to an OEM cat (~$1000, or more for a PZEV), but I took 1 star off for the poor fit. Some of the OEM heat shields fit, particularly the vertical runners, but some won't. There are some pre-fabbed heat shields on the collector and around the actual cat convertor. Don't forget to buy new gaskets, you'll need 2 for the engine:exhaust manifold, you'll need 1 for exhaust manifold:center pipe, and then you'll most likely need 1 for center pipe:rear pipe. You'll also need the studs that connect the exhaust manifold to the center pipe. You can buy new ones (OEM PN 44154AA000), you can scavenge the ones from your original manifold (very tricky if it's rusty), or you can replace with bolt and a nut, I think Dorman makes a set. You might want to replace the spring bolts between the center pipe:rear pipe too, as they'll likely be very rusty. You'll also most likely want to replace your upstream A/F Sensor and downstream O2 sensors, Denso makes high quality OEM grade and affordable sensors. If you're swapping your old sensors, use some Permatex Ultra Copper on the bungs in the manifold to seal it, as the sensors have a one-time-use crush washer. I took another star off for it missing the heat shield brackets and the studs, which come pre-installed on an OEM pipe and are included with other aftermarket manifolds like AP/Eastern. Overall: I'm content with the shortcomings of this manifold because my Forester burns a ton of oil, which likely fouled the original cat convertor. Some day I'll replace the short block, but I didn't want to buy a new high-end cat just for it to be fouled by my engine. This manifold at the super-sale price is a good stop-gap solution. The engine is noticeably peppier, too.
