We purchased this pergola as a covering for a sun-filled deck. The pergola came in five manageable and well-packed boxes. We spread the installation over a weekend. The instructions were well written, complete and thorough (though we misinterpreted one or two things and had to back track). The quality, clean design, and thoughtfulness in shipping through assembly are superior. While it wasn't necessary, we elected to add stability to the piece and added 4x4 posts within the columns adding a bit more expense to the project, but giving peace of mind that it won't blow over in a wind event. Again, a solid structure (added supports contained within the vinyl beams, weighted shade screen, etc.) with careful thought given to design. We were able to immediately enjoy the comfort and shade this provided and will easily remove the shade screen for the winter months.
