Pine chips or pellets can poison your pets if they chew too much of it. Cedar does not. This lasts my house rabbit about 9 months to a year for her litter box. Smells great as soon as you open it. The cedar scent works well with herbivore waste(poop!). I throw this with my rabbits waste right into my garden beds. Unlike pine, cedar does not change the pH of the soil. The thin shavings make sure it composts pretty quickly. The shavings can deter snails too, they don't like to go over them too much. Shipped fast, without wasteful packaging. We live in the country in California. We have a bad wild rat problem. They keep chewing the wires and parts on the cars. We put this all under were the cars park and spray it with clove oil and other oils to keep rats and mice away. One even got in a car and chewed the whole 2nd rw of seats.
