My 4 year old granddaughter has to have hip surgery, so is confined to a sitting position for the time being. I sent her this lap desk soon after her return home, and it has really been useful. She uses it when sitting on the couch coloring/drawing, eating a snack, or playing tic tac toe, and also while sitting in her wheelchair during outdoor activities. The pillow underneath is comfortable and conforms to her lap. The surface is a little slippery, however, but we remedied that by placing a Safety 1st brand silicone placemat on the surface. It provides enough grip so things don't slide off as easily, and can be washed for sanitary purposes.
