Very happy with this litter box! We use it with pine pellets and find it comparable to Mr. Catman: https://a.co/d/fq52OtO This is an excellent value! I do wish the sides were taller to stop flyaway pellets and that the sifter tray sat higher above the collecting tray. I strongly suggest you use it the same as Mr. Catman's design which also has 3 trays: (1)Sifter on top holding pine pellets (2)Catcher in middle (urine sawdust) (3)Holding pan on bottom (place sifting box with litter in it when cleaning out the middle tray) Put the catch pan (middle tray) inside a kitchen garbage bag (13gal?) to make cleanup of the dirty sawdust a breeze. The urine breaks down pellets into sawdust which falls into the middle tray. Bag it up every 2 weeks. Scoop solids from the top tray and stir pellets once or twice a day to encourage the wet pellets to break down. Your kitty helps do this naturally and sifts when they paw at the pellets before and after using the litter. Shake the sifting tray every other day to manually sift. This method alongside a Litter Genie, and we have zero cat smell in our house. Not even exaggerating. These methods contain 100% of litter stink. If we smell litter, there is a fresh poo to scoop or it's time to bag up the wet sawdust. We constantly get compliments on how good our house smells (that's also credit to Hotel Collection). Our neighbors are even considering a cat now after catsitting- the smell was the only thing holding them back!
