For even easier cleanup, recommend not running the machine until it is dry. The fan makes noise, but that is to be expected. This has been working out really well. I need distilled water for my CPAP and it's so nice not to lug jugs from the store. I've not had any problems with leaks but I learned to wait a while before taking the lid off because the steam is very hot. I've only made 5 gallons but so far so good
