These are tough little magnets. One will hold 2 heavy oven mitts without sliding. The metal surface these are on makes a difference. Some fridges, like mine, have the metal painted over with a bumpy pattern. It's the fridge's metal that's weak, not the magnet. They work well in our tornado shelter and anywhere with a good thick solid metal surface.

I bought these to use in a metal building to use for organizing things that could be hung up. I was very pleasantly surprised at how strong they were. Will definitely consider buying more
