Was very compact %26 blew up pretty easy. You have to step on it several times, but still very easy. - No air pump needed. It held air all night long too. It comes with a "pillow" that I ended up putting at my feet end, because I had a real pillow. Felt like this was a great bargain!

It is definitely not self inflating as you need to use your hands to pump it. But, it doesn't take long to get it to inflate. Deflation is a breeze and it fits back in the sack easily. we used them for a 3 night camping trip and had zero isses or complaints!
