First time purchase but confused

Bought this unit so I would have a power source during power outages to keep hand held devices charged. I also have a gaming rig plugged in. I understand why there is a cooling fan but confused why the fan runs for no apparent reason. Many time I observe the fan running while the unit is cool to the touch and with no load. I've also observed it "clicking" as if trying to start the fan. I've yet to see how it works in a power outage but wanted to let you know about these fan issues and when the cooling fan is running can be a bit noisy.
