This is for a Halloween costume/the price was more than acceptable. Sturdy enough for an evening; does have an easy open button if the 2 keys are lost. I think it would be good for child's play. They are metal not plastic.

Yes, these are real metal, and unlike the cheap plastic ones these last and provide hours of safe play. At first, I was concerned about how safe they would be especially knowing he would try these out on his little sister. No worries they come with two keys, but they do have quick-release safety latches. This is a good thing because when the sister no longer will play, the dog becomes the target of the arrest. You must push the lever up on the safety latch and they will release anything that has been “cuffed”. Pair these up with toy pistols and a fake badge and kiddos have hours of fun playing detective. If your looking for a gift for boy or girl that will provide hours of fun for little cost this is it. This is the first product I have tried from Toy Mendous but would not hesitate to purchase more going by the price and the quality of the product.
