New Mexico is a challenging place to garden. Dry, blasting winds take a heavy toll on young, tender plants. We have been very pleased with the benefits we have seen from placing these screens on the windward sides of our raised beds. For those of us using these around raised beds, having the option of purchasing longer stakes would be a benefit. We plan to add longer bamboo stakes to raise the screens to protect more of our plants. For those not using these with raised beds, the stakes place the screens at ground height, and the screens are an ideal height to protect most plants. We chose not to place the stakes inside the garden bed frames because that would bring the screens themselves flapping against growing plants when the winds are really howling. The soil outside our raised beds is basically adobe brick, so we did use a metal rod and hammer to pre-drill holes for the bamboo stakes.

Arrived quickly and packaged well. Certainly helps keep out the unwelcome garden critters.
