The Southern part of this province is home to the Mekong and Lancang river basins, lush mountains and for the famous tea category of Puer. It is also the native home of the Dayeh, broad leaf tea varietal. Yunnan black teas are often referred to as Dian Hong tea, named after the central area of Yunnan, which was known as Dian in third century BC. Tippy South Cloud Made at a 100% organic tea garden with a mix of black and gold tipped leaves. The color emerges as a result of withering (moisture drying of the leaves), a critical step in processing of the leaves. Only a few areas in Yunnan contain the varietal of tea plant that produces golden leaves. Other areas known to have gold-tipped varietals are Hunan and Fujian provinces in China and Assam in India. Tippy South Cloud is excellent in the late summer months and, since it is a heavy oxidized (darker) tea, it maintains its flavor well over time.
