The pioneer woman 20-piece classic charm cutlery set is an addition to anyone's kitchen. From the florals, the colors, the dots, the design, everything is perfect. This set is nicely detailed. With this set there are seven knives, all having a different purpose. I am still researching all the knifes. I never had so many varieties of knifes. I know there are two butcher knives, two vegetable knives, and a bread knife, I am not sure what the other knives are for. I don't eat melon, but I think there is a melon knife. They are all very sharp. Each knife has a safety protective cover that slides on the knife blade. The protective cover also protects the non-stick coating blade from being scratched by any other utensils, and possible injury. The handles are nonslip so it easy to grip and it feels comfortable. There is even a butterfly design on the end of each knife. A lot of care and design went into the set. Knives are not the only things in this cutlery set. There is a wooden cutting board, three cutting mats, and a pair of shears.
The cutting board is so smooth and just the right size. I didn't want to use in because I thought I would scratch it, and that is where the mats came in handy for me. I put the mat on the cutting board before I started cutting. With the cutting board I can envision many uses. It would make a beautiful display for cheeses or cookies and much more. I guess I will only use it for cutting food, but it is only for my use. The cutting board would not stay nice for long unless the mats are used.
The mats are the all the same size, but smaller than the cutting board. With this set, each mat is a different color, red, blue, and green, with flowers trimmed on the edges. It is rough on one side and smooth on the other. I do like the different colors for the mats. I can keep vegetable on one mat, and meat on the other, and no cross contamination that way. After I was finished cutting, I simply rolled the mat a little to empty he contents in the bowl. This allowed all the vegetables I cut to go into the bowl and not on the counter. The mats make my job so much easier. This set wouldn't be complete without the pair of shears.
The shears are red for this set. After holding them I could tell that they were sturdy and will do the job. These shears will only be used for preparing food in the kitchen. They are off use for paper, tape, and my husband. I don't like cutting scullions up but with the shears it made it a breeze. Snip, snip, snip, and I had small pieces. It cuts romaine lettuce up in thin slices too. I had my salad fixed in no time. Like the knives, it has its' own protective cover. This protects the shears, yourself and from being scratched by other utensils. So don't be afraid to store them in a drawer. As with the shears, the mats, and the cutting board, all of them have care instructions if you want them to remain nice.
The set is to be hand washed only, and, use mild soap with warm water. Rinse then, dry immediately dry. It recommends not to soak any of knives, sheers, or cutting board. The mat is to be to be hand washed as well. I don't mind hand washing any of the items because it with protect the finish. This product has it all, the durability, the quality, and design. The only downfall about this product is how do I store them away from my husband?
I would definitely recommend them to a friend.
