The Pioneer Woman Juliette Melamine Dinner Plate, Teal, 10.7"

I have had a few melamine plates. This one has a really heavy feel to it compared to others. Some of them feel like they will break before you buy them. The plate is also a full size dinner plate and has not been shorted. I put it on top our other dinner plates and it was the same size. The color in this plate is really fun. It matches a coffee maker we just got in the same color. The plan is to get more for my daughter when she goes to college but there is one small snag with Melamine. It should not be used in the microwave. Can I trust a young 20 something to abide by this? People get in a hurry and shove anything in the microwave these days. I'm not sure what will happen to the plate or if toxic chemicals will come out of it. I really like the extra little embellishment of raised pattern on the edge of the plate. It really dresses it up. The plates are dishwasher safe. I wish the writing on the back was bigger. It does say Dishwasher safe and not to use in the microwave but it is hard to read. It is good they have that on the plate for sure. I recommend this plate because it makes a nice party plate for outdoors and for possible use for those college kids that don't have time to clean broken plates properly on the floor when they fall.

it came in such a huge box I had no idea what it was. but once I opened it, I thought it was absolutely cute. I only use it to act as support under disposable plates because I don't want to flaw it in the microwave. but it is a very pretty color and is very sturdy. I wish I had gotten more than just the one plate.
