The Kane Chronicles, Book One the Red Pyramid: The Graphic Novel

I bought four Rick Riordan stories in graphic novel form and read them over the weekend. Of the four, this was easily the best. This is a good book for someone who has read the original story or someone who has not read the original story. While I felt one of the Percy Jackson books (The Lightning Thief) to have been sort of butchered from its original form (they left out some really important stuff), The Red Pyramid was really well adapted. It is thicker than any other graphic novel I own. For readers already familiar with the regular novel, the graphic novel rearranged things to adapt them to the format--however, I don't think any major details were completely removed. Yes, it was adapted--meaning it isn't word for word. However, it is pretty detailed. Also, I think the illustrations really give the characters feeling and fit the story. I especially like the illustrations of Julius Kane. As for how the story may affect someone not yet familiar with the original version...well, obviously, I LOVE The Red Pyramid which is why I bought this book. It is a really engaging story with relatable characters. Anyone from middle schoolers to adults would love it. Also, if you are a graphic novel enthusiast, I find this one to go into more depth than any of the other graphic novels I have read.
