Like most Japanese imports, this SACD is a hybrid, with a separate CD layer to play in CD players as well as SACD players. it also has both a 2.0 stereo mix and a 5.1 multi-channel mix when played in a SACD player. Purists might object, but i always find the 5.1 mixes very interesting, more detail than all that sound being squeezed into 2 stereo tracks. Sound quality is excellent via HDMI, my player recognizes that my receiver won't decode DSD therefore outputs a 16 bit/176.4 PCM signal instead. Quality disc.
