I like the Contemporary historical accuracy I like the drama I like the romance I like the comedy I like the entire film it is a contemporary look at the Berlin Airlift Through The Eyes of a flight engineer on a c-54 originally stationed in the Pacific in Hawaii who is to fly the Berlin Airlift along with a friend who is a radar talkdown specialist who had been a prisoner of war in Germany and does not want to go back to Germany how both learn to understand and appreciate the German people, the ex prisoner of war through the German girl that he teaches about American government, and the Montgomery Clift character how he learns that the girl that he thought he loved is actually trying to get back with her husband and get herself and her SS husband back to the United States these lessons and others using areas of Berlin actually under English American French or Russian control in various parts of the film show the four power control of Berlin yet with a wonderful sense of humor about the whole thing You will not regret acquiring this film it is a wonderful history lesson and goes down very smoothly
