Let's be Honest. This is a cheap reel. That said. It casts Long and smooth for me with Quality, 8 strand 30lb test 0.13inch Braid. Light for its size, though not the lightest, it's a big Beast. Mines' mounted on a 7ft Med Heavy Ozark Grit Stick. This combo is SOLID %26 not too heavy. I fish a lot, challenge my equipment to perform, and so far I'm well pleased with this reel. The retrieve, not fast (makes slow retrieve techniques easy) with its 5.2/1 gear ratio is Smooth, Powerful, great for big spinners, deep crankbaits any heavy jigs or other lures you throw. It makes ripping through Grass Beds and most vegetation easy. I dragged in a Big Carp I foul hooked under the chin tonight. FUN! Being New, it has no wobbles etc. I like to Test tighten all the screws I can on a new reel. All were tight. I believe this reel, mounted on a M heavy Fast or Medium action rod would work well for most of your fishing at a price less than most "lunches out." I'll get another smaller model by this manufacturer in the same product line late summer.
