The auto restart function allows the fan to restart on the same settings after it unexpectedly shuts off (like during power failures or surges). Great little Air Conditioner unit I have owned several brands. Delivered on time, un-damaged and was a snap to install. It cools a 300 square foot room effortlessly. It will be a couple months before I try the heating aspect of the unit. I expect it to work as well.
