- SHILOH FARMS Organic Oat Bran contains about 50% more fiber and soluble fiber than rolled oats. It also significantly more nutrient-rich, containing higher levels of protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, phosphorus, riboflavin, magnesium, and zinc

- Oat bran is the edible outer layer of the oat grain obtained by milling dehulled steamed oats. Oat bran is a very concentrated form of soluble fiber which reduces the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream, and reduces the low-density lipoprotein (LDL), otherwise known as the "bad" cholesterol. Once consumed, oat bran enters the digestive tract, where its soluble fiber absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance (bolus), creating a feeling of fullness. This process removes calories from the body and slows down sugar assimilation.

- To Cook: Add 1/3 cup flakes to 1 cup boiling water & cook approximately 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat & let stand 2 minutes before serving.
- Suggestions:
1. While cooking, stir in ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Top with milk, dried fruit or nuts, and your favorite natural sweetener.
2. Give a nutritional boost to breads, cookies, muffins, pancakes, and other baked goods.
3. Add to casseroles, meatloaf, or hamburgers.
4. Mix a little oat bran into breadings or crumb toppings.
5. To enhance its nutty flavor, toast at 375°F for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly browned.
6. Stir into smoothies or shakes.
