Does not work on 7" wall

The product says that it can be installed in the wall. The instructions say it will work on a 8" wall or smaller and that all of the louvers (outside) must be exposed. I have a 7" wall and part of the louvers will be exposed therefore I cannot use it and I am currently having a hard time trying to figure out how to return it.
