Sherwood's Seeds 10 Sacred Datura Moonflower Plant Seeds

While reading up on these seeds, I learned a few things. First of all I didn't order them until late in the season so I haven't germinated them yet as I read that it is better to wait until January 15th through February 1st. This timeline works good for my zone 8b, as I live in SC. You want to start your seeds 8-10 weeks before planting. You should pierce the outer shell of the seed or peel it away, then soak them in warm water overnight. Plant at a depth of 1/4". It takes 2-4 weeks to germinate. Acclimate the plants for 1 week outdoors once the temp reaches 60*, as these plants flourish well at this temp. This is good for all recommended zones. If the temp drops below 40*, bring them indoors. These plants do well when planted both in your garden and grown in planters. In your garden, plant 24" - 36" apart. You want to plant in full sun. Keep moist during the growing season. NEVER water foliage, only the roots. Black rot, a bacterial disease may occur. Fertilize with a high phosphorus fertilizer. This is a vining plant that self- seeds, producing more flowers next season! Separate thick vines for good air flow. The flowers open up overnight and close in the morning. For colder climates you can over-winter your plants indoors once temps drop below 40*. Prune vines short. Store in a dim area where the temp is between 50* to 60*.
