Faux leather Vinyl fabric is great for upholstery and accessories such as bags and belts. It's popular for covering seats, cushions, and boat interiors. Flannel backed vinyl and clear vinyl are popular for protective table covers, and most vinyl can easily be wiped down to clean up spills. Depending on the backing, some vinyl fabrics have a stretch in them, which makes it easier for upholstering furniture. Vinyl is sometimes called faux leather because it's a great alternative to real leather.
PVC Leather
PVC leather, or sometimes called Vinyl, is made out of fabric leather backing, topped with a foam layer, skin layer, and then a plastic-based surface coating. PVC has more layers underneath its coating, making it tougher and more durable. Great for indoor and outdoor use. Makes easy to use when upholstering. Great for auto headliner, seats, chairs sofas and much more.
Best for reupholstering furniture's or car interiors
Due to its foam layer underneath its surface coating and skin layer, PVC leather is much less breathable than PU. This gives PU leather the advantage when it comes to being the preferred material for wearable clothing items. However, since PU leather has more pores on its surface, this gives PU leather the risk of absorbing stains and other unwanted particles. This is why most upholstery uses PVC leather instead.
PVC’s multi-layer structure and lack of pores, compared to PU leather, make the material more durable than PU leather. This is why PVC leather is mostly used in upholstery and footwear. Utilizing PVC leather could result in an additional product life as well.
Waterproof
PVC has no hair-follicles (pores) unlike PU leather which makes it virtually waterproof and high temperature resistance, but may become unbreathable in hot temperatures.
PVC leather is a different form of plastic, which can not be degraded easily. Due to its plastic character, PVC leather would be a little bit tough in low temperature and do not bally flex. So it is absolutely wrong to compare it with genuine leather. However PVC leather may crack with extended use in many areas such as outdoor goods because of the application of plasticizers.
