Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Dense Shade Mix for Tall Fescue, 3 lbs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a small area just over 100 sq. ft. that gets little sun during the Summer months and next to nothing during the Winter months. Each summer, I over seed the area with Marathon 1, seed variety and the same thing happens, by the beginning of Spring, the grass is dead. Last Autumn, I planted the Scotts Dense Shade Mix For Tall Fescue Lawns and this is the first Spring where the grass is still thriving in that shady area. The Scotts grass blends in very nice with the original Marathon 1 sod. I am please beyond my wildest expectations!

Over the last couple of years, I have a area in my back yard, where the grass under a large tree, has gotten pretty thin. This spring I spread Scott's Dense grass seed, in the area, and I am now seeing many blades of grass popping up. These seeds have a coating that seems to keep the seed moist, the most important key in growing new grass from seed. Be sure to break up the soil first with a wire rake, then spread the seed, if the dirt is light weight or use peat moss, to cover the seed, to help the seed stay put and prevent the birds from eating. Then make sure to lightly sprinkle the seed daily, to keep it moist, so it starts to germinate.Very happy with the results so far, looks like I will have a hardy lawn, where the sun doesn't shine.
