Well, it could've been longer, but that's what the coil does I believe, makes the antenna electrically longer, and also makes the antenna center loaded, so that might help too. I'll say this though, I compared the CB201 with a MFJ 1699T, and on 20 Meters, I get stronger receive signals from a station using the CB201 as compared to a MFJ-1699T which surprised me. I haven't noticed 10, 12, 15, or 17 Meters open enough yet to compare signals on those bands, but I was able to compare the CB201 to the MFJ-1699T on the 20 Meter band, and also on even the 40 Meter band, and the received signals when using the CB201 were stronger than with the MFJ-1699T, but it was using an antenna tuner when comparing the two antennas. On CB Radio, or 11 Meters, I was getting a S9 on a station on the other side of town, so it seems to work OK, as of course we were both mobile. There are better antennas I believe, but they're much more expensive, so for the price, I think that the antenna is fairly good. I get a good SWR on the CB201, and all I did was assemble it, and having the upper whip in the coil just far enough to go past the set screw, so the set screw would tighten against the whip, and the picture shows what I get on Channel 20, which is about in the middle of the CB band. The digital meter shows the forward power, the reflected power, and the SWR.
