We officially live in the future.

Straight out of some sci-fi movie, this thing allows you to be anywhere. It's hard to explain, and you really need to try it for yourself, but this VR headset is capable of fully immersing you in another place. As far as your brain is concerned, you ARE there, not merely looking at a screen. It feels a bit like teleportation. As a technology, VR is in it's infancy, so this is only the beginning, and it's already good. My favorite apps so far are Smash Hit, which has you flying through a strange, geometric landscape flinging steel balls at panes of glass before you crash into them. No matter how much I tell myself what I'm seeing is not real, I still instinctively duck each time I pass too close to an obstacle. I also really like the Netflix app, which puts you in a very nice mountain cabin on a red couch in front of a 100" TV. I recommend headphones for full immersion. If I could say anything negative about this, it's that as the technology improves and the clarity improves and the realism increases, there may be a very real threat that people will prefer to live out their existences entirely in VR. Why live in our boring world when you can be a freaking SPACE NINJA, or something to that effect. This leaves the question, is a happy virtual life a happy life? Is ignorance bliss? When the Matrix fully envelops us, will the machines harvest our bio energy?

The gear VR is easy to use and a lot of fun. Just download some apps from the internet and you're on your way. It works easily with my galaxy S7. It has a controller built in but I recommend a separate control such as the Steel Series Stratus XL. There are more apps being added every day it seems like. Most people will find that there are plenty of choices. Some are pay apps that are quite reasonable but there are many free ones also. I recommend the Gear VR as the economical choice for virtual reality.

Definitely worth the money!

This is one of the coolest things I've ever bought! So cool. Only thing that I don't like and it's not the headsets fault but my phone gets really hot when I'm using it but I think that's just my phone but other then that it's definitely worth the money!
