These rugs are the best! They steam clean easily and are also broom friendly. You can just sweep them off if you use them outdoors or even vacuum with a couple of quick strokes. I have already hosed them once and steam cleaned once too. The look as good as when they first arrived! For indoors, they feel a bit rough to the bottom of bare feet; I believe they are more of an outdoor rug or good for an entrance to a home. I use the big round one for my den, the first room you see when entering the home and the runners are for just outside the den. The rectangular rug is for continuity of the home and used on the porch for a great first impression to visitors. I have a seperate mat next to the door for wiping feet; so I can't say how this would be as a mud mat if someone desired that usage of it.
