Delighted with this lamp! The stem is perfectly minimal. The on/off switch is on the cord which lays on the floor. There are 2 variations of brightness. One is white and oh so bright and the other is softer but just fine for reading, etc. Good craftsmanship of lampshade! Very pleased.

Love this lamp. It's not a super tall lamp (pay attention to the measurements), but it works perfectly over a chair or table. I have it over a "conversation set" table, and it looks great.
