This is a REALLY nice laptop computer. I got a good deal – about $900 off. But I think it was probably a clearance item. So far I have not turn it on. I just read the directions. Now the very first line of directions says this computer is suitable for use in non-tropic areas below 2000 meters. I thought to give this as a Christmas present to my son. But he lives near Colorado and often has jobs to do in Colorado. He actually works at setting up computers for lots of businesses. I considered keeping it for myself, but we plan to move to Florida for a few months. Personally, I never heard of altitude limits and tropical limits on a computer. Anyway, here is my biggest concern that worries me. It arrived in a box that allowed it to bang around during shipping and handling. It was securely in a box with foam padding. But that box was in a bigger box - 1.5 inches by 2 inches by 1 inch bigger! So the smaller box containing the computer could easily slide back and forth and bang around! When I first picked it up I was amazed at how careful I had to be to keep it from sliding and banging around. I really wonder how well it did during shipping. I do not have confidence the foam in the smaller box was sufficient. I do not understand why something like paper or bubble wrap was not put around the smaller box so it would not slide and bang around so violently during shipping and handling. Not taking such a cheap precaution does not give me confidence. Of course in today's society, I have to wonder if this is a scheme to get rid of damaged goods by making it look like the shippers were at fault. The shipping was free (in a way - or at least that was indicated), but I wonder if they would make me pay shipping if I return it. I have not even started this computer up. I actually do not even know if it works or not. With so many questions and restrictions, I am planning to return it. Finally, I bought a 2 year protection plan. I think a protection plan is wise for things being shipped. I'm afraid the customers who don't get protection plans are more likely to get the damaged items. Just about 2 years ago I bought a regular (tower) computer. But I did NOT get the protection plan. When it arrived I was very careful. I did not try to start it until I read all of the directions. Then I followed every detail up to turning it on. IT DIDN'T TURN ON. I called the manufacturer. A tech.guy walked me through some trouble-shooting steps. Finally he told me to return it.

Nothing much to do except turn it on. I installed all of my MS software and was up and running within 1 hour. There were some system updates for windows 11, but that did not take long either. Very impressed with speed. One thing that I don't know about is when I did a video conference the picture I saw was quite dark. I had trouble seeing the other party. This might be a setting on the software, so I won't blame the machine just yet.
