Cant beat the stainless steel dough hook

I saw a lot of complaints about the coating coming off the Kitchen Aid dough hook so decided to get the stainless steel one instead. It arrived quickly and is very heavy/sturdy. Ive used it to make bread and its fantastic.

Heavy, real stainless steel dough hook

I bought this as a replacement for the white dough hook that came with the artisan 5 quart. My white dough hook started to peel after hitting the bowl too often. It turns out you have to adjust the mixer head lift height very so often. I've had the mixer for almost 20 years. This stainless steel dough hook looks like it can last a lifetime. Very sturdy and I believe it accelerated my dough's gluten development.
