It keeps your head from bobbing when you try to sleep on a plane. Excellent way to sleep. To get out of it temporarily you just lift the eye mask (which is really soft) and you can slide back into it or just un-velcro one side

Worth the investment!

The mask was a recommendation from my sister who has done long flights. I was grateful to not be disappointed! The mask is extremely soft, very light weight (and easy to pack), and completely blocks out any light. We tried it in the afternoon, the middle of the day, and the sun did not shine through. Lastly, the velcro that holds the mask to the chair is very strong. I'm looking forward to using it on my international flight!
