Royal Purple HMX is designed to protect engines and improve performance. It uses special zinc and phosphorus additives along with Synerlec® technology to reduce wear. HMX helps revitalize seals to lower oil consumption in older engines. Strong detergents keep the engine clean, extending its life. Synerlec® technology also reduces friction for better performance and provides strong resistance to oxidation, which helps extend oil change intervals. Additionally, it ensures a lasting oil film on parts to reduce wear during start-up. The product weighs 9.5 lb and has a viscosity of 5W-20.

After contemplating and reading reviews, I was interested and tried RP for the first time. I have an older 4 cylinder Chrysler engine (2012) which is a noisy engine. A benefit is that it operates noticeably quieter with RP compared with Mobil 1. When changing the oil it appeared that it held up better, it was less blackened and its viscosity held up. Other oils at time of changing were extremely thin. The oil dissipation was noticeably less - I didn't need to top off oil addition along its use. The engine system doesn't have any leaks, but of course we don't want any either. Thus I'm hoping that the additional lubricants in the High Mileage are helping protect all of the seals and gaskets as advertised. I rated the container 4/5. Its pouring characteristics are compromised by the 5 quart minimalistic bottle design.
