Confusing directions

Bought this for our 8-yr-old son who is VERY interesting in art. There are not too many colors but there is A LOT of detail, some very intricate. Hard to do with colored pencil. The sheet that tells you which color to do where was really inconsistent. Some of the areas were marked incorrectly and some of the colors are completely random. Also, some of the sections were marked with what looked like fractions. (ie. 1/9 or 4/6) We assumed this meant to blend the two colors but the instructions never indicated what to do. Disappointed in the quality but our son is enjoying his first attempt at color-by-number.
