Rock On Christian: Loud is a 2-disc set of scathing Christian pop-metal, much of it dating from the mid-'80s heyday of groups like Stryper and Whitecross. Bride's "Psychedelic Super Jesus" and "Weapons of our Warfare" from Deliverance rock harder than much of the secular hair metal set. However, the same wanking guitar solos and vocal histrionics that plague the non-believers can be found lurking amongst the ranks of the saved. Ken Tamplin's "Livin' for My Lord" is an unimaginative rocker dressed up with weedly-weedly soloing and Tamplin's David Coverdale-esque bellowing, while Holy Soldier's "Stranger" is plagued with genre cliché. Fortunately, things get considerably harder with the second disc.
