If you can't attend RiffTrax Live events...

... then DVDs of the shows are the next best thing. And getting them with free delivery directly to your local Wal-Mart store for nearly half the price as RiffTrax sells them for is even better! Being long-time Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans, it wasn't difficult talking my mother into attending this show with me. Everyone in each of the theaters where it aired had a blast (with the exception of the two or three theaters which had technical difficulties that night and couldn't run the show.) The DVD contains the "trivia" sideshow which played while the audiences were filling up. It makes it's way onto the disc under the Bonus Features. The show had three "shorts" before the feature presentation. Two animations by Rich Kyanka (and narrated by his daughter) and a 1970's piece of bizarreness called "What Is Nothing?" The main film stars Kerwin Mathews (from "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad") as a farmboy who rescues a princess from a claymation giant and then goes on to battle the evil wizard who sent it. But where "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" benefited from the touch of stop-motion legend Ray Harryhausen, "Jack The Giant Killer" ... eh.... not so much. And that only adds to the hilarious riffing quality by Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy.
