Leaks,Doesn't work on this Kohler Sterling toilet

Bought this well priced kit to replace a 4 yr old FLM valve which was slow flushing and filling. I had several of these before which wore out in 5 years or less. The Danco seemed to have good features and was easy to assemble on the 25 yr old toilet. But, after it was handtightened as much as suggested (with the soft plastic fins), and the water turned on, the bottom valve seal leaked badly and the water came in only at the leak-detecting opening, not the fill valve. So I took it out and sent it back for refund. I ordered and assembled a new FLM kit at about the same price. It is working very well with no leaks, a strong fill rate, and a strong flush. It also has easy to adjust flow, good flapper and works well with the new seat bidet.
