Rescue Me: The Complete Series (Blu-ray), Mill Creek, Drama

This is one of my facorite TV shows ever! Denis Leary co-created this show and he's a perfect fit for the main character: a fireman who experienced 911, lost his cousin and best friend (who he sees in delusions), suffers from PTSD which he uses alcohol, women and daredevil thrill-seeking in his job to cope with. The firehouse and the firemen offer a glimpse into that extremely macho world. The show is filled with Pathos and deep humor (much of it dark) in abundance. The characters are well-fleshed out and experience both growth and regression. The video quality is good but not great, but certainly not a distraction to the great storytelling. Likewise, the audio is not reference (not a lot of surround activity), but is acceptable and dialogue is not compromised. Not for the faint of heart or overly sensitive, but if you like realistic, gritty, side-splitting and tear-inducing drama, check this out.
