Moen 101237 Moen Cup Seal & Diverter Gate, 3800 Tub Spout

I am giving this 4 stars because the lady at customer service that helped me was awesome....but yes, the part is plastic (so no star to the part lol) This is the second time replacing this small part. It is easy to replace on your own. I just cannot believe Moen has made this the way they did. I am sure there is probably a better way to engineer it. Any how... I called customer service and they are sending me one. Call was simple and the lady that helped me was awesome. The part is what it is. Moen's customer service has saved the day the few times I have needed to call and have always been fair

I removed my spout and see why so many would have problems with this repair kit. Calcium and pitting builds up so the repair kit would be hard-pressed to provide a good seal and work frictionlessly. A good soak in cleaning with vinegar would likely help. Another concern is the O-ring that provides the slide-on seal. It should be supplied. If this were to breakdown over time a serious leak problem would result. A pair of gaskets for the escutcheon to wall and faucet to escutcheon mating surfaces should be supplied to address potential leaks from normal use.
