Panasonic HC-VX1 - Camcorder - 4K - 24x optical zoom - Leica - flash card - Wireless LAN

I am impressed with the quality of this device. The construction seems flawless and the quality of the videos produced is first rate. I believe the low light performance is better than any camera I have ever owned. Great job Panasonic and an affordable price range!!

I had purchased the HC-VX1 camcorder about a month ago. It is light weight and handy. The video quality is excellent as well as the still picture quality. This is a 4k camcorder, however the max framerate for the same is 30 fps. But, I mostly record at 1080p with 60 fps. The OIS is good, but not exceptional. Night video recording is also good, however you will get noise especially in very dark situations. Still pictures taken in the dark have a lot of noise. HDR mode makes a huge improvement in darkness, however the noise remains. It has 24x optical zoom, which is very nice. It has a built shoe so you don't have worry about losing your shoe adapter. Sound quality is excellent. The battery life is average as you get maybe a little over an hour. I would recommend getting the VW-VBT380 battery, which has twice the battery life. But, it is relatively difficult to find authentic panasonic ones nowadays. There is no inbuilt memory, and you will have to use a memory card. There is no focus ring or viewfinder in this model, which is available on the higher model HC-WXF1 I think. I had a HC-VX981K panasonic camcorder, which is an older and very similar camcorder compared to this. Some plus points it had compared to this camcorder are that it had a built in video light and infrared night vision. However, the optical zoom was only 20x in that camcorder. The lens hood in this camcorder really doesn't feel like much of a lens hood, but something is better than nothing. This camcorder itself is made in Malaysia and the battery is made in China. Overall, it is an excellent camcorder probably the best in its price range, and I am very happy with the purchase.
