Earl's Racing Products head bolts are made from premium quality 170,000 psi chromemoly alloy steel (about 15% stronger than Grade 8). These bolts have a reduced wrench size (choose from 12-point or hex head) for extra socket clearance (provides extra clearance to rocker arms when re-torqueing heads). The wide flanged head provided more support for the extra thick chromemoly washers. These head bolts are reusable and are the ideal way to upgrade the performance of your engine, and eliminate the hassle and cost of replacing OEM style torque-to-yield style bolts each time the cylinder heads are removed. Black oxide finish & sold in complete engine sets. Made in the USA.

Affordable option to ARP
Affordable option to Arp bolts. Very similar strength ratings at a better price point. Had to clean out one washer on a complete head bolt set ,would buy again
Threads were not good
I bought these with the idea , that just about every Earl's product I have ever bought or used was just about a perfect fit. I was trying to stick to a low buck build for a friend and figured these were perfect for the budget. There was a ten minute gap from grabbing the package and test fitting the bolts in the block ,and It saddened me to find out #1 that the box I received looked as though it has been on many trips through the mail, and #2 that the first four bolts that I pulled out of that box did not fit right. It seemed as though the threads were not cut properly. The thread pitch was correct but they just seemed to be flat or not cut deep enough. So I sent them back and ponied up the extra money for the ARP. I will definitely try them again sometime , because I'm sure someone just fell asleep in the QC department.
