Three years ago, I bought the Sennheiser HD 820. Honestly, I had been dreaming about them since their release date when I first tried them at a local store. They are well-built, look impressive, and in my opinion, deliver a truly immersive listening experience. With the right amplifier, the bass is deep, punchy, and detailed, while the mids and highs are clear and crisp. One thing I learned, unfortunately, is that these headphones reveal the flaws in most of my favorite tracks since they are not well-mastered (I was prepared for that). For the same reason, they let me easily distinguish each instrument in complex parts that previously blended together. I love how these headphones pull out all the details in tracks, which played a key role in my choice.
