Functional steel wool for the base of the fence

We bought these because we had unwanted rats coming to our yard from the bottom of the fence. So we put it around the base of the fence. So far, no rat activity detected, maybe it's the season change to winter, or maybe it's the steel wool. We don't know for sure, but we are happy with the purchase
