Rampage Chimera 1/5 Scale Gas Sand Rail

This is my experience with the redcat racing 1/5 sand racer. I love all things RC, please read this before purchasing. Expect to do some work on this thing before using it. A full rebuild would be the best idea. And don't forget to run-in the engine properly !! I unfortunately made the mistake of running this thing out the box after the run-in and ended up regretting it. Many bolts were loose and lots of the metal on metal connections had no loctite which I failed to notice and as a result ended up having to buy a number of replacement parts. You can avoid this headache by just rebuilding her from the start. Don't trust the factory assembly as it was sub par for my unit. After a good application of loctite and change of the radio setup this thing was good to go ! I prefer using aircraft style radios on my cars and the extended range from the aircraft receivers is a no brainer ! Its very noisy and fast! You will certainly have some people looking over if you take this thing to a park. On the first post rebuild run the left front lower suspension arm shattered after a small jump. I immediately ordered the aluminum upgraded arms to replace them to avoid that issue in the future. For $730 RTR this is not a bad deal. This is certainly the cheapest 1/5 gas rc you can find other than banggood specials :) I give it 4 stars. Maybe the unit I received was a one off and the rest of the production units are good, who knows. I hope this helps in making your purchase decision.
