Shuttle 24TB needs Thunderbolt 2 to Power Up

The installation of the drive and getting power was problematic, since the user's guide text was so small, it was USELESS, unless you have a magnifying glass. There was no instruction describing the USB-C cable enables the drive to power up and illuminate the led above the G. Additionally, since my MacBook Pro, 2014 vintage, has Thunderbolt 2 ports, I had to get a cable adapter from USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 from Apple to power up the Shuttle Drive.

Ignore the 1 star review

I think the other reviewer was confused and didn't realize this comes out of the box pre-configured as a RAID 5. The storage space resulting from a RAID 5 array is: the sum of all the drives put together minus one drive worth of space. In other words, if you purchase this 24TB Shuttle, it will come out of the box with 18TB of capacity since 6TB is used for parity. It's awesome that it's RAID 5 out of the box because as the 1 star reviewer noted, reformatting a new drive with this kind of capacity does take a full day of time or more. That said, it would be nice if the software needed to run the drive was easier to find as well as info that the drive was pre-formatted.
