When the items arrived, I opened the boxes and saw that the shelves are made of metal somewhat on the thinner side, a bit flimsy - and I had doubts. After I put them together, though, they turned out pretty sturdy - to my amazement. Easy to put together, spacious, sturdy. The only thing that remains to be seen is how they hold up with time - corrosion resistance, etc. They're in a garage in Florida, after all. Time will tell... Assembly tip: I decided to not bang the included little mallet on the metal pieces, so I don't bend them. Instead, I picked up a small leftover piece of a 2x4, placed it against the metal piece, and banged a regular mallet on the wood. Much quicker and no dents :)
